ProofBound for your AI assistant

Write your book in conversation. Let ProofBound typeset it.

Develop your ideas, outline chapters, and revise your manuscript with your AI assistant. When it's ready, ProofBound turns the finished manuscript into a professionally typeset PDF and saves it to your library.

Built and tested with Claude. ChatGPT, Grok and other assistants are in beta.

Connect your assistant

Works in Claude Desktop, Claude on the web, and Claude Code.

  1. Open connector settings in Claude

    Go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.

  2. Paste the ProofBound connector URL

    Use this address as the connector URL:

    https://mcp.proofbound.com/mcp

  3. Sign in and approve access

    Claude will send you to ProofBound to sign in. You'll see exactly what access you're granting — reading your library and rendering your manuscripts — then click Approve. Your ProofBound password and session stay with ProofBound; Claude never sees them.

  4. Confirm it's connected

    Back in Claude, ask "Who am I on ProofBound?" Claude should reply with the account you just signed in as. You're ready to go.

Beta · Connect directly

You can connect ProofBound directly using a custom MCP connection while we prepare the directory release. Availability depends on your ChatGPT account and workspace settings.

  1. Add a custom MCP server

    Open ChatGPT's Plugins page, select the + button, then Add custom MCP server.

  2. Name it and enter the server URL

    Enter a name and description, such as "ProofBound". Under Connection, enter the server URL:

    https://mcp.proofbound.com/mcp

  3. Set up authentication and create it

    Set up authentication, read the risk warning, and select I understand and want to continue. Then select Create as a plugin and review the tools ChatGPT discovers.

  4. Sign in and approve access

    Complete the connection flow, sign in to ProofBound, and approve the requested access.

  5. Confirm it's connected

    Select the connection in a conversation and ask "Which ProofBound account am I connected to?"

If custom MCP connections are unavailable, your account or workspace policies may restrict them. See OpenAI's current setup documentation.

The direct connection provides ProofBound's live book-writing workflow, rendering tools, and library access. The packaged plugin also includes reusable instructions and optional local project helpers. Directory release coming soon.

Beta

ProofBound uses the open Model Context Protocol (MCP), so it isn't tied to one assistant. Grok has worked in our early testing, and any other assistant that supports custom remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in can try the same address:

Add it wherever your assistant manages custom connectors or MCP servers, sign in to ProofBound, approve the requested access, then ask "Who am I on ProofBound?"

What you can do

Your assistant writes, ProofBound typesets. Once connected, just ask in plain language. Rendering happens asynchronously: you start it, keep working, and ask for the result when it's done.

Plan and outline a book

Draft and revise the prose

You and your assistant do the writing, right in your conversation. ProofBound never writes your book for you.

e.g. “Make chapter two funnier.”

Typeset into a PDF

When the manuscript is complete, ask for it to be typeset. ProofBound renders the PDF in the background and saves it to your library.

e.g. “Now typeset the book.”

Check progress, get the link

Your assistant reports rendering progress and retrieves the download link when it's done.

e.g. “Is my book ready?”

Browse your library

See the books in your connected ProofBound library, with their status and download links.

e.g. “Show me my books.”

Upload large or illustrated projects

Depends on host

From a host that supports file creation and uploads, such as Claude Code, ProofBound can render long books and books with images.

e.g. “Publish the book in this folder, with the images.”

Advanced

Long or illustrated books in Claude Code

A short, text-only book can go to ProofBound right from the conversation. A long manuscript or a book with pictures works better from a folder on your computer, using an assistant that can work with your files, such as Claude Code. Your assistant packages the folder and uploads it for you. Just ask:

Publish the book in this folder with ProofBound, with the images in place.
This manuscript is long. Upload it to ProofBound and typeset it.

This is how cookbooks, kids' books, and photo books get rendered with the pictures in place.

What it costs

The connector includes a free rendering allowance: up to 50 renders every 30 days. Re-render while you polish your manuscript; each render counts toward the allowance.

Paid covers and printing are purchased through the ProofBound website. The connection does not place print orders or collect payment in chat. See plans and prices →

Free renders carry a small ProofBound banner on the first page; it's removed when you finish on the web.

Account & privacy

Your assistant writes the prose. ProofBound receives the manuscript and requests sent through its tools, typesets the book, and stores it in your ProofBound library. Sign-in happens with ProofBound; you do not paste your password into the conversation.

To revoke access, ask your assistant to disconnect from ProofBound. That revokes your account's connector access across every connected assistant, not just the current chat, within about a minute. Your sign-ins to the ProofBound website aren't affected. Removing the connector in an assistant's settings may not revoke access on our side, so ask it to disconnect first.
